Irene R. Delp, of Baltimore, died on Thursday, May 15, 2014. She was 93. Mrs. Delp was born in McDowell, WV, on February 18, 1921, daughter of the late Henry W. Lawless and Julia Mae Kinder Lawless. She was a graduate from North Fork High School, in North Fork, WV. She had been employed at G.C. Murphy's, North Fork, Epstein's located in Highlandtown, MD, and Lerner Shop in East Point Mall. Mrs. Delp was a devoted Christian woman and lived by the word of God, and the Bible. She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and the congregation at Middle River First Church of God, where she was a faithful member for 52 years.
She was seamstress, enjoyed working, poll watching during the election, coupon clipping, reading the Bible, listening to gospel music, gardening/harvesting her vegetables and flowers, especially her rose garden. She was known as a peace-maker and an outstanding friend. She prayed daily for her family and always looked forward to seeing everyone. Mrs. Delp was completely devoted to her loving husband of 74 years, Baynerd N. Delp. She is also survived by her son, James Willis Delp and wife Yourth, her daughter, Julia Gail Massie and husband, Rev. Ralph Massie, Pastor of North East Church of God, and five grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by sisters, Stella Caliq and Audrey Balto, and her brothers, Henry and Eugene Lawless. Friends called at the Crouch Funeral Home on Monday, May 19 from 10 to 11 a.m., with services immediately after at 11 a.m. Burial was in North East Methodist Cemetery in North East.
