Irene Hart Haga died Thursday, March 27, 2014. She was 92. She was born in Chilhowie, Va. on February 24, 1922, to the late Robey and Flora (Williams) Hart. Mrs. Haga was a homemaker who worked by her husband’s side in farming, mushroom growing, and later in life was an avid dealer in substantive Christian books of yesteryear, a venture she called “Oldies but Goldies”. Her love was her family and serving the Lord. She reached out to all ages in the work of her Lord - holding Bible clubs in her home, teaching in Children’s Church, leading teens in the Awana Youth program, and assisting her husband with adult Sunday school classes. She was a member of the Bible Fellowship Baptist Church in Rising Sun.
She is survived by two daughters, Elinor Martzall and husband, Rev. Charles Martzall, of Camp Hill, Pa.; and Diane England and husband, Rev. Jeff England of Rising Sun; grandsons, Ralph Martzall, his wife Marilyn with their three children Cayla, Nathaniel, and Jessica of Fort Wayne, Ind.; John Martzall and his wife, Celeste with their two children, Nolan and Ezri of Atlanta, Ga.; and Stephen England of Rising Sun; also a sister in law, Lacie Ann Hart of Abingdon, Va., and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Edward and Ray Hart and two sisters, Hazel Hart Shupe and Marie Hart Duncan. Services will be held Tuesday, April 1, at Bible Fellowship Baptist Church, 325 Bard Cameron Road, Rising Sun, MD 21911. Viewing begins at 1 p.m. with the service at 2.
