Hazel Louise Smith Gray, of Bay View, near North East, died at home on Saturday, June 22, 2013. She was 95. Mrs. Gray was born in Sylmar on February 24, 1918, daughter of the late Edward Beecher and the late Belle Benjamin Smith. She was the wife of the late John Andrew "Zip" Gray who died on April 26, 1996. During her 62 years of marriage to Zip her interests were centered around raising her family and keeping her home on their family farm. She was a lifetime member of Shelemiah United Methodist Church in Bay View, where she was an active member of the United Methodist Women, formerly the WSCS. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and embroidery, passing her needlework skills on to many family member. Other interests included reading, gardening, baking and horseback riding.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert and Lyman Smith. Mrs. Gray is survived by her loving children; Scott Andrew Gray, of The Villages, FL; Carole Anne Conrad, of Sheridan, WY; Linda Lee Williams Mischler, of Rising Sun; Glenn Edward Gray of El Paso, TX; John Norville Gray, of North East; Jerry Alan Gray, of Big Horn, WY, and an adopted son, Glenn E. Gray, Jr., 17 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren. Friends can call at the Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street in North East, on Thursday, June 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be held on Friday, June 28 at the funeral home at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ken Murray officiating. Burial will be at Bay View Cemetery in North East. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donation made to the Bay View Cemetery Fund, in care of the funeral home. Comments are closed.
