Glenn Allen Howell of North East died on Sunday, December 15, 2013. He was 51. He was a lifelong resident of Cecil County. Born in Elkton on September 2, 1962, son the late Eugene Waters and Mildred Crouch Howell. Mr. Howell was married to his high school sweetheart, the late, Kelly Gochneaur Howell for 26 years. He worked at Kunkles for 36 years, starting at the age of 15. He was a skilled carpenter for 25 years, also working for CMSI for 10 years part time. Following in the Howell tradition, he was very involved in his community. He served on the North East Little League Board of Directors for 11 years and volunteered as a groundskeeper and in maintenance for 25 years. He shared is knowledge and love of baseball by coaching for many years. He was a member of the Upper Bay Museum. He was also a member of the North East VFW Post 6027. He loved the outdoors, especially the North East River. An avid boater, water skier, watermen, and hunter. He had a Black Belt in Jujitsu.
Mr. Howell is survived by his children, Erin Marie Howell, Gregory Robert Howell, and Drew Allen Howell, all of North East; five sisters, Cheryl A. Dixon, of Elkton, Linda L. Hudson and husband Jerry, of North East, Patsy H. Meck and husband Gary, of Carthage, TX; Barbara H. Monger, of Rising Sun and Karla Howell, of North East; In-laws, Robin Ciarpella and husband Michael, of Jarrettsville; Karen Young and husband Wayne, of Rising Sun; Linda Bray and husband Larry, of Elkton, and Robert Gochneaur and wife Winnie, of Elkton; numerous nieces and nephews and friends, including Tracey and Sheri Patchell and Edward and Monica Harrison. In addition to wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Howell, brother-in-law, Emory Dixon, and father and mother-in-law, Robert and Eileen Gochneaur. He was an exceptional man who cherished his wife, children, family, friends and his community. He was loved by all who met him. He worked tirelessly in any endeavor that needed to be done whether it was picking up trash at the Little League Fields, building bleachers, or serving food at the North East VFW. He responded to any friend in need. He loved life whether it was vacationing with family at Outer Banks, NC, or at Norris Lake, TN, or being family and friends. Friends can call at the Crouch Funeral Home in North East on Friday, December 20 from 4 to 6 p.m. and again on Saturday, December 21 from 10 to 11 a.m. Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 21 at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Hart's United Memorial Cemetery in Elk Neck. In honor of Glenn's contributions to the North East Little League, balloons will be released at Howell Field immediately following the service. Comments are closed.
