Etta A. Johnson of North East died Tuesday, July 29, 2014 in the Singerly Manor Assisted Living, Elkton. She was 92. A lifelong resident of Cecil County, she was born on October 17, 1921, in North East, daughter of the late Herbert Stanley and the late Elsie V. (Hammond) Reed. Mrs. Johnson worked at Triumph Explosives during World War II. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church. She is survived by two daughters, E. Audrey Knisley of Pittsboro, N.C., Janette L. Underwood of North East; a sister, Ada Edwards of Leola, Pa.; and seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She was the wife of 56 years of the late, Robert Dale Johnson. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Robert D. Johnson, Jr., her brother, George Reed, and one grandson, Stephen Anthony Underwood. A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 2 p.m. from Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, where the family will receive guests Friday evening, from 6-8 p.m. Burial will follow services in North East Methodist Cemetery.
