Esther H. Black, 89, of Little Britain Church Road, Peach Bottom, PA went to be with her Lord following a short illness on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Lancaster General Hospital. She and her husband Roy Wilmer Black celebrated 70 years of marriage. Born in Peach Bottom, she was the daughter of the late Zell F. and Kathryn Moore Hershour. Esther had worked as a teacher’s aide in schools located in Cecil County, MD. She was a member of Little Britain Presbyterian Church where she was an active volunteer, especially at Christmas with the holiday candles. She also was a member of Wakefield Lions Club, and Farm Women Society #21. She enjoyed cross stitching, crafts and gardening. Surviving beside her husband are two sons, Robert W. (Joanne) Black of Quarryville, Richard D. (Dawn) Black of New Providence; 4 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be held at Little Britain Presbyterian Church, 255 Little Britain Church Road, Peach Bottom, PA on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 11:00AM with Rev. Thomas P. Milligan officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. Viewings will be held at Reynolds Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA on Sunday from 6:30-8:30PM and again on Monday at the church from 10:00AM until the time of service.
