Elsie M. Jerden, 88 of Rising Sun, MD, formerly of Port Deposit, MD died Saturday, October 15, 2016 in the Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care, Newark, DE. Born in Gap Mills WV on September 10, 1928, she was the daughter of the late George and Lora (Kirk) Dunsmore. Elsie was a homemaker and a dairy farmer. Elsie collected salt and pepper shakers, enjoyed cooking, garden, growing flowers, country gospel music, and gospel hymns. She is also known as a hard worker and an avid Orioles fan!! Survived by three daughters: Iretta Taylor of Carlsbad, NM, Joyce Spencer of Manassas, VA and Carol Grace Dunsmore of Brewton, AL, and one son: Harold Curtis Jerden, Jr. of Nottingham, PA; and a sister: Shirley Holbrook of Elk Mills, MD. Elsie is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren, one of which is her “Queen of Hearts” her great-granddaughter: Emerson May Jerden; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her son: Jessie James Dunsmore. Funeral service will be held Friday, October 21, 2016 at 11:00 am at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD. There will be a viewing one hour before the service.
