Elizabeth Kathryn Armstrong Wood of Perryville died Thursday, April 28, 2016. She was 78. Born in Kilsyth, W.Va., on August 16, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Creel Helton Armstrong Willen (Ray). Mrs. Wood retired after 31 years of service at Aberdeen Proving Ground, working as a chemical safety specialist. She was an active member of Perryville United Methodist Church, the Ladies Golf League of Edgewood, her bridge club, and the Red Hat Society. When her daughters were school-aged, she consistently served in their Parent Teacher Associations, holding various offices. She was the wife of 58 years to Kenneth F. Wood of Perryville. She is survived by her three daughters. Debra Drake (Steve) of Bedford, Va., Lisa Rogers of Perryville, and Kara Stutz (Paul) of Severna Park; her grandchildren, Ashley Wilson (Brian), Christopher Parker, Katherine Parker, Kenneth Parker, Spencer Rogers, Samantha Rogers, Alexander Stutz, Sophia Stutz, Caroline Stutz: and her great grandchildren, Jack Wilson and Logan Wilson. In addition, she is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law Rodney Wood (Anita), Betty Page, Wayne Wood (Barbara), and Edward Sekula: and 12 nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Gay Armstrong and Carol Lee Helton Sekula. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 7, from 6-8 p.m. at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 8, at 2 p.m. at Perryville United Methodist Church, Broad Street and Susquehanna Avenue, Perryville. The service will be conducted by Reverend Ray Graham and Pastor Mike Caldwell. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, in care of the funeral home. Comments are closed.
