Doris D. England, of Zion, died on Saturday, February 22, 2014. She was 83. Mrs. England was a lifelong resident of Zion, born on October 24, 1930, daughter of the late Raymond and Grace Bothwell DeMond. She graduated from the Calvert Agricultural School and Goldey Beacom College in Wilmington, Delaware. Mrs. England fulfilled secretarial responsibilities at Dupont, in Wilmington, Perry Point VA Medical Center, Farmers & Mechanics Insurance, in Zion; and Calvert Manor Healthcare Center in Calvert. Her life's dedication was to her Lord and family as a dairy farmer's wife, mother, homemaker and Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Bible Fellowship Baptist Church in Rising Sun.
She enjoyed gardening with her flowers and processed fruits and vegetables yearly, sharing with friends far and wide. Mrs. England is survived by her husband of 62 years, T. Howard England; children, Thomas Jr. and wife, Vicky (Carroll), of West Grove, PA; Jeffrey and wife, Diane (Haga), of Rising Sun; Amy England Edwards, of Martinsburg, WV, and Nils and wife, Amy (Herwig), of Marysville; grandchildren, Tommy and Valerie England, of Lancaster, PA; and Stephen England, of Rising Sun; sister, Winifred Newnamm of Galena; and sisters in law, Diana DeMond, of Elkton and Jean England Heinel, of Myrtle Beach, SC. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, George and Harold DeMond and a sister, Marilyn Waddell. A memorial service will be held at the Bible Fellowship Baptist Church, 325 Bard Cameron Rd., in Rising Sun on Saturday, March 1 at 3 p.m. Visitation with family and friends will be held an hour before the service and also afterwards. Burial will be private at Friends Cemetery in Calvert. Memorial contributions may be made in Doris' honor to the Bible Fellowship Baptist Church. Arrangements were handled by Crouch Funeral Home.
