Cora Louise Griffin of Port Deposit died at home Wednesday, September 4, 2013. She was 75. Born July 9, 1938 in Elkton, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Pearl M. Henry Honesty. Mrs. Griffin was an usher and member of the First Baptist Church of Port Deposit; an usher at the Bethel A.M.E. Church of Port Deposit; and was formerly employed by the Cecil County Board of Education.
Mrs. Griffin is survived by her husband of 54 years, George B. Griffin of Port Deposit; sons, Tyron Griffin of Perryville, George Benjamin Griffin, Jr. of Elkton, Melvin Douglas Griffin of Port Deposit; daughters, Tenya Dennise Honesty of Salisbury, Terry Louise Griffin of Elkton; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brother, Hasting Anderson; and sisters, Hannah Nicols and Margaret Berry. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Griffin was preceded in death by her brothers, Edward W. Hicks and William Henry Honesty; sisters, Madeline M. Harris, Pearl Fields, Octavine Wilson and Mary Murray. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, September 14, 2013, noon, at the First Baptist Church of Port Deposit. Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, September 14, 2013, 10 a.m.-noon, at the church prior to the funeral service. Pastor Steven Deveaux of the First Baptist Church of Port Deposit will officiate. Burial will be in Berkley Cemetery, Darlington.
