Charles Shirley Adams of Port Deposit died Saturday, February 22, 2014 in the University of Maryland Medical Center of Baltimore. He was 84. Born May 26, 1929 in Lansing, N.C., he is the son of the late Charles W. and Rettie Powers Adams. Mr. Adams was a member of the New Bridge Baptist Church of Colora. He was retired from the Maryland State Highway as a supervisor and heavy equipment operator.
Mr. Adams is survived by his wife, Jean Marie Moulton Adams of Port Deposit; sons, Charles Adams and wife, Rhonda, of Elkton, Steven Adams and wife, Susan, of Port Deposit, Randy Waddell and companion, Dawn, of Port Deposit; daughters, Shirley Copeland and husband, Glen, of Tehachapi, Cal., Nancy Nichols of Elkton, Cindy Ard and husband, Robert, of New Freedom, Pa/, Carol Tichnell and husband, Jeff, of Elkton; nine grandchildren, Dustin, Eric, Jimmy, Brittany, Glenda, Christine, Rob, Erin, Jeffery; and four great grandchildren, Ethan, Megan, Liam and Joey. In addition to his parents, Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Meck Adams, second wife, Zella Thompson Adams; brothers, Carl Adams, Clarence Adams, Collen Adams; sisters, Hazel Lawder and Ivy Keller. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, February 27, 2014, noon, at the New Bridge Baptist Church of Colora,. Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2014, 7-9 p.m., at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., Perryville, MD. Pastor David V. Edwards, Sr., assisted by Pastor Fred Wyatt, both of New Bridge Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in New Bridge Baptist Church Cemetery, Colora.
