Brenda H. Peart of Charlestown died Monday, June 27, 2016 at Calvert Manor Healthcare Center. She was 73.
A lifelong resident of Cecil County, she was born in Elkton on January 25, 1943, the daughter of the late Peter and Frances (Miller) Hansen. Mrs. Peart enjoyed crafts and sewing. David James "Jim" Markley of North East died Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Abbey Manor Assisted Living, Elkton. He was 73. He was born in Wilkinsburg, Pa., on December 22, 1942, he was the son of John P. and Elizabeth Markley, and husband and friend of Patricia M. Markley. Mr. Markley earned a BA and Master’s degree from Pennsylvania State University, where he concentrated on technical theatre, specializing in set and lighting design. He taught technical theater and design at Hofstra University, Hempstead, N.Y. for 36 years. He also designed many shows for dinner theatre, off-Broadway and regional theater. William Derrick Warner, Sr. of Charlestown died Saturday, June 25, 2016. He was 83.
Born October 16, 1933 in Sikeston, Mo., he was the son of the late Evan Derrick and Roberta Givans Warner. Mr. Warner was a member of the Rising Sun Church of the Nazarene and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He is a retired radiology technician of the V.A. Maryland Health Care System, Perry Point. Jane Gillespie Fotiadis of Perryville died Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore. She was 86.
Born May 2, 1930 in Perryville, she was the daughter of the late Willis Marshall and Helen Cunningham Gillespie. Her cooking skills were unmatched which she loved to share with friends and family. Jeremy Benjamin Ellingsworth of Elkton died Saturday, June 11, 2016. He was 36. He was born in Wilmington, Del., on August 24, 1979, he was employed by THYMLY Co. in Colora. Mr. Ellingsworth enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children. Survivors include his wife, Robyn Blackburn-Ellingsworth; his children, Anthony Foran, Emma, Izabelle and Ulysses Ellingsworth, all at home; parents, Raymond Jr. and Susan Ellingsworth, of North East; and two brothers, Raymond III and Jason Ellingsworth, both of Elkton. Services are private. Dorothy A. (Gilbert) Hudler of North East died Monday, June 13, 2016, in Union Hospital, Elkton, MD. She was 79.
Born in Harford County on March 18, 1937, she was the daughter of Jesse and Annie Gilbert. Mrs. Hudler was a member of the First Baptist Church of North East and served in several positions. She drove a school bus for 12 years and also worked as a GNA at Calvert Manor Nursing Home. She enjoyed gospel music. However, her best times were travelling with Bob and visiting friends. Jane Hickman Gant of North East died at home June 6, 2016. She was 92.
She was born September 25,1923 in Wilmington Delaware, daughter of the late Emmett Stewart Hickman and Ethel Seal Hickman. Mrs. Gant was a graduate of Tower Hill School, Lasell College, and the Yale University Department of Drama. Known as Jimmie, she was an active member of the community. At St. Mary Anne's, she led the team that created holiday decorations for the church. She was a longtime member of the All Seasons Garden Club, frequently sharing her flower arranging talent the members. Donald (Donny) Gene Ewing Jr. of North East died on May 26, 2016. He was 55.
He was born in Elkton on June 22, 1960 to Donald and Hazel (Langhorne) Ewing. Mr. Ewing was a third generation skilled concrete finisher and a member of Union Local 2 Bricklayers Allied Craft Workers Delaware/New Jersey. In his free time, he enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson, fishing at his favorite fishing hole with his kids at Turkey Point, handicapping a thoroughbred horse race, attending his kids’ sporting events, and spending time with his family. Edwin Alker Orvis of Colora died May 28, 2016 at Christiana Hospital. He was 85. Mr. Orvis was a member of the Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War. He owned a grocery store in Rowlandsville and owned an Angus Farm in Conowingo for many years. Later in life, he worked at Algers, Western Auto, and Martins. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nancy. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mabel Alker Orvis. Services will be private. Charles “Amey” Gosden Todd of Perryville, died at home Monday, May 23, 2016. He was 86.
Born November 28, 1929 in Perryville, he was the son of the late Elbert W. and Marguerite Arbaugh Todd. Mr. Todd was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Perryville Volunteer Fire Company, the Susquehanna American Legion Post No. 135 of Perryville, and the V.F.W. Post No. 8126 of Havre de Grace. |
