Carlene Faye Buser Poist of Perryville died Tuesday, May 19, 2015, in Harford Memorial Hospital of Havre de Grace. She was 80. Born August 23, 1934 in Hershey, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles Henry and Frances Mildred Robb Buser. Mrs. Poist was a member of the Blythedale Seventh Day Adventist Church where she had been very active teaching Sabbath School and was a former director of Vacation Bible School. She served with the Water Witch Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and had been inducted into the Hall of Fame. She was active with the Town of Port Deposit, organizing playground activities and parties for children when her husband was mayor, and she was a former Girl Scout Leader.
Mrs. Poist attended the former Jacob Tome Institute of Port Deposit. She was the owner/operator of Poist Custom Draperies and was a very talented seamstress. Mrs. Poist also worked for many years as Manager of the Joseph A. Banks store in the Perryville Outlets. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Donald Nelson Poist of Perryville; daughter, Christine Poist Barclay and husband, Donald, of Perryville; son, Donald N. Poist, Jr., of Elkton; daughter, Kathy Poist Cuomo and husband, Ralph, of Perryville; son, Michael A. Poist, Sr., of Port Deposit; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three grandchildren and sister, Clarice Ann Buser. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, May 22, 2015, 11 a.m., at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., Perryville. Visitation for family and friends was held Thursday, May 21, at the funeral home. Pastor Ken Coleman of Blythedale Seventh Day Adventist Church of Perryville, will officiate. Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery, Port Deposit.
