Judson Roy Wagner, 42, of North East, MD and formerly of Quarryville, passed away unexpectedly on December 21, 2017 at Christiana Hospital of natural causes. The son of Don and Jan Wagner of Quarryville, Jud was a graduate of Solanco High School, and a member of Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church. In 2016, Jud graduated Summa Cum Laude from Community College of Baltimore County with a degree in Chemical Dependency Counseling. He worked as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor in Maryland, most recently for BNJ Health Services. He was passionate about helping others overcome addiction and fighting the opioid epidemic. Donald Joseph Julien, Sr. 78 of North East, MD, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at home.
Born in Chester, PA, on August 17, 1939, he was the son of the late Erin Ray and Anna (McCaffery) Julien. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Marines. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Julien was an electrician for over 37 years, working for Amtrak. He enjoyed fishing and playing the guitar. Mrs. Mabel Violet Slauch Lyle, age 87, a resident of Row Avenue, Junior, WV, departed this life Sunday evening December 10, 2017 at her home. Death following a period of declining health.
She was born December 2, 1930 at East Nottingham Township, Chester County, PA, a daughter of the late Harry John Sr. and Katherine Susanna Martin Slauch. On May 19, 1949 she was united in marriage to Robert Eugene Lyle Sr., who preceded her in death on January 8, 1991. Charles N. Dixon, age 71, of Conowingo, MD passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017. Born on February 26, 1946 in Fountain Green, MD, he was the son of the late Namon and Jossie Horton Dixon. After serving his country in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam, he went to work at the Chrysler Assembly Plant in Newark, DE where he retired in 2001. Charles also worked at the Manheim Auto Auction in his retirement. His greatest joy however was being a husband, father, and grandfather to his family, and his love for God. He was a proud member of New Beginning Baptist Church in Peach Bottom, PA. Doris Ann Lloyd, 78 of Elkton, MD, died Friday, December 8, 2017 at home, surrounded by her loving and caring family. Born in Elkton, MD, on January 22, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Margaret R. (Frame) Stewart. She was an office manager, employed by the Cecil County Health Department for 18 years before retiring. Doris was a 25 year member of the North East Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, where she had proudly served as President and Treasurer. She was also a member and officer of the Cecil County Ladies Auxiliary, Elkton VFW Ladies Auxiliary, LAMSFA and was a Cecil County tax coordinator. JoAnn Bernadette Filing (Stutz), 79 of Whitehall, PA, formerly of Nottingham, PA passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Allentown, PA. Born in Shamokin, PA, on December 23, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Stella (Olshefski) Stuchinski. Mrs. Filing worked as a bookkeeper for Dr. Michael Lipman, Cherry Hill, MD and also at North East Enterprises. She enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren grow and loved all of her family dearly. Survivors include her children: Charles Smith (Mary) of Rising Sun, MD, Wanetta Naylor of North East, MD, Stephen Smith of Oxford, PA and Michele Filing Toth (Scott) of Whitehall, PA; one sister: Marie Koutsouros of Whitehall, PA and one brother: Thomas Stuczynski (Janet) of Dansville, NY; a nephew: Eric Stuczynski of Ranshaw, PA; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Loretta Mae Adkins, age 80, of Elk Mills, MD, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2017. Born in Lewisburg, WV, on December 1, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Gerald E. and Neva Dean Beamer. Mrs. Adkins retired after more than 25 years as a newspaper carrier for the Wilmington News Journal. She was a member of Crossroads Bible Church, Elkton. Mrs. Adkins loved being with her family and enjoyed working on puzzle books. Eugene Albert Moore of North East died December 4, 2017.
He was born on January 7, 1934 in Price, N.C. He moved to North East in 1955. Mr. Moore was in the Korean War. He was also a dedicated truck driver for 43 years. Robert John Tiley, Sr., age 48, of Elkton, MD, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017. Born in Wilmington, DE, on July 13, 1969, he was the son of Barbara Tiley Moore, Virginia Beach, VA, and the late Warren J. Tiley.
Mr. Tiley was a heavy equipment operator with LECCO Construction, working alongside his brother, Joe. He loved spending time with his family, and enjoyed fishing, crabbing, and gardening and farming with his Uncle Joe. |
