Franklin Harold Stewart, Jr. of Port Deposit died December 17, 2015. He was 71. Born August 27, 1944 in Elkton, he was the son of the late Franklin Harold, Sr. and Sylvia Mae Brown Stewart. Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife, Bertina Jackson Stewart; children, Sylvia Herron (Peter), Yvette Monk, Tina Robertson, Nicole Grant, Anthony Stewart, and Robert Grant; 31 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; brothers, Ellsworth Stewart and Jerome Stewart; sisters, Madeline Bell and Bernice Stokes. William Lee Copenhaver of Rising Sun died at home Friday, December 18, 2015. He was 60. Born November 11, 1955 in Havre de Grace, he was the son of Joan Lorraine Wright Copenhaver and the late Emory Lee Copenhaver. Mr. Copenhaver was a veteran of the U.S. Army Special Forces. He was employed as an electrician for Local No. 26 of Washington, D.C. Caroline Augusta Mullins of Elkton died Friday, December 18, 2015 in Elkton Transitional Care Center. She was 75.
Born May 17, 1940 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Charles Augustus and Caroline Virginia Collars. Mrs. Mullins was a member of Leeds United Methodist Church of Elkton. Catherine Elaine “Kitsy” Garrett of Peach Bottom, Pa. died at home Thursday, December 17, 2015. She was 65. Born in Elkton on December 28, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Ruth (Raine) Byrd. She was an artist. In addition to her art, she also worked for Martha Barchowski, doing many duties in her home and business. She was a member of American Legion Cecil Post 15, Elkton. Lois Louise Prentice of North East died Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care, Newark, Del. She was 73.
Born in Champion, Pa. on June 7, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Myers and Ruby (Mognet) Sheets. Mrs. Prentice enjoyed reading, volunteering at Cecil County Library in Elkton, and puzzles. James Edward Hindman, 82 yrs, of Perryville, MD, died Wednesday, December 16, 2015 in Harford Memorial Hospital of Havre de Grace, MD. Born November 5, 1933 in Purcellville, VA, he was the son of the late Evelyn Hindman.
Mr. Hindman was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Perryville United Methodist Church, The Susquehanna American Legion Post No. 135 of Perryville, MD, and the Susquehanna Masonic Lodge No. 130 AF & AM of Havre de Grace, MD. He was formerly employed as a mechanic by the Aberdeen Proving Ground of Aberdeen, MD. David Scott Douglass was born on August 30, 1955 in Havre de Grace, Maryland, to Helen Michael and Jones A. Douglass. He departed this life, to be with the Lord he so deeply loved, on December 14, 2015.
David was a dedicated and devoted participant of Bayside Community Network, Inc. for 43 years. During his tenure, he worked on various projects and developed many close and endearing friendships. He enjoyed the finer things of life; singing, dancing, music and time with friends. He was a star soloist at the annual Bayside Christmas Concert. David was an avid participant with Special Olympics. In the past he has had the honor of carrying the torch and assisting with the Athletes Pledge. David was a gifted public speaker whose prayers and eulogies touched those around him. David was the master of compliments; always insuring those around him had a smile on their face. David was loved by everyone who knew him. Matthew Carl Adams, 24 of Rising Sun, MD, died suddenly on Sunday, December 13, 2015. He was born in Elkton, MD, on February 14, 1991. Matthew worked as a mechanic for Allan Myers Construction. He enjoyed dirt track racing, fishing, skate boarding and swimming. Time spent with his family and friends was very important to him. He is survived by his mother and stepdad: Carmen (Rogers) and Edward Horn; his father: Gary Adams; and two brothers: Zachary and Joshua Horn all of Rising Sun, MD; his maternal grandmother: Joyce Rogers of Chesterfield, VA; paternal grandmother: Carol Johnson of Rising Sun, MD; and paternal grandfather: Garrett Adams of KY Shirley A. Devine of Elkton died at home Saturday, December 12, 2015. She was 80.
A lifelong resident of Cecil County, she was born on July 31, 1935, the daughter of the late Charles and Louise (Evans) Spratt. Mrs. Devine was a mail carrier for the Elkton Post Office for 34 years. Shirley Brown Bradley died December 11, 2015. She was 77/ She was born on May 21, 1938 in Lomax, N.C. She resided in Cecil County for the majority of her life and retired in Newark, Del. Ms. Bradley was a proud graduate of the North East High School Class of 1956. She planned and participated in her class reunions for many years, maintaining lifelong friendships with many of her classmates. She worked in a variety of positions for the Cecil County Public School System, but spent the majority of her working years at APG, retiring from there as a budget analyst. |
