Raymond Wallace Keen, age 70, of Perryville, MD, passed away on November 15, 2018. Raymond was born in Havre de Grace, MD, to the late Raymond Carl Keen and Janette Ida Owens. Ray was an Eagle Scout and a graduate of Perryville High School. He continued to pursue his education and received a bachelor degree from Washington College and a Master of Philosophy from the University of Delaware. Ray worked at the Maryland Department of Corrections for 30 years, serving to support and lead efforts in the state’s work release program. In his retirement, Ray enjoyed teaching philosophy at Harford Community College and archaeological exploration with the Maryland Archeological Society. Ray always enjoyed sailing and being out on the water. He loved spending time and traveling with his family, especially his granddaughter, Annabelle. Jack Ellsworth Cloman, age 87, of Conowingo, (formerly of Joppa) MD passed away on November 16, 2018 at Calvert Manor Healthcare Center in Rising Sun, MD. Born in Ronceverte, West Virginia, he was the son of Julian and Naomi (Dubree) Cloman and husband of 64 years to Constance (Bullis) Cloman of Conowingo. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served our country in the Korean War and retired as an electronic technician at Aberdeen Proving Ground. He was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Charter Life Member of Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company, Charter Life Member of the Korean War Veteran Association (KWVA) and Maryland Chapter 33 KWVA, member of American Legion Mason Dixon Post 194 in Rising Sun, and a dedicated volunteer to the American Red Cross for over 50 years. Work was his hobby and he loved public service and volunteering. Jack also enjoyed photography, crabs and rockfish. Shirley Jane Murphy of Elkton died Sunday, November 18, 2018. She was 83. Born in Perryville on January 26, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Mary Edna (Hammond) Shockley. Before retiring in April of 2001, Shirley was a Supply Technician with the Directorate of Logistics Supply and Service Division at Aberdeen Proving Ground for more than 25 years. Mrs. Murphy was an avid reader faithfully sharing her many books with her family, enjoyed crossword puzzles and her weekly check-ins with her sister, Doris, as well as cryptograms, gardening and her cat, Black Cat. Most of all she was a devoted, selfless, caring and loving mother/grandmother to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of whom she adored. Karen Marie Currey Ware, 73, of North East passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2018 from complications that developed during her brave battle with cancer. She was born in Fairmont, West Virginia to Arthur and Eva Currey. Karen was a retired Cecil County public school teacher having taught for more than 30 years in Maryland after beginning her career in Clarksburg, West Virginia. She was also a retired real estate agent, having practiced for more than 20 years in Cecil County. She was an active member at Shelemiah United Methodist Church in Bay View teaching Sunday School, leading Bible Studies and ministering to young and old alike. She enjoyed traveling, scrapbooking, and being with her grandchildren, who she adored and enjoyed supporting in all their sports and school activities. Karen was a care-giver. She helped to care for many family members and friends throughout her life. She had an incredible support system of friends, church family and neighbors that provided encouragement, transportation and laughter throughout her battle with cancer. Her family is forever grateful for their generosity and love. Blanche Jones LeBrun, 83, of Oxford, PA, formerly of Colora, MD, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 18, 2018 at home surrounded by loving family following a brief illness. Born January 12, 1935 in Havre de Grace, MD, she grew up in the Calvert area, attended Calvert Elementary School and Rising Sun High School, and worked at Cecil National Bank, where she met the love of her life, Richard “Mike” LeBrun. They married and raised eight children.
Blanche was a devoted wife and mother, supporting her husband and children in their various activities, including Scouts and sports, and was active in her church, being a strong woman of faith. She was a loving grandmother and great grandmother, known as “Mom Mom the Great” or Mom Mom the Grape” to her 33 great-grandchildren. Bettie Mahoney Murray of Rising Sun, died on Wednesday, November 14, 2018. She was 66.
Bettie was born on March 1, 1952 to Pearl and Winfield Mahoney. Bettie was a loving wife and mother, a devoted sister, and a loyal friend. Bettie’s love of Christ was evident in every action and in each life she touched; she was a light to all who knew and loved her. Bettie was a gifted listener who had the ability to make everyone feel special and loved. She retired from Cecil County Public Schools as a speech language pathologist, a career for which she was so passionate. She was also a dedicated member of Elkton United Methodist Church. Patricia Ann Flower, 78 of North East, MD, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 15, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Chelsea, MA, on August 6, 1940, she was the daughter of the late John and Laura (Cogswell) Myles. Patricia retired from Pathmark, Wilmington, DE where she worked as a manager and cashier. After Pathmark, she worked at the Dollar General in North East Plaza. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, trips to the beach and Delaware Park. Survivors include her loving husband: Howard R. Flower; 2 sons: Michael James Schintzius and David Myles Schintzius both of North East, MD; a daughter: Wendy Jean Schintzius Toney of Elkton, MD; 5 grandchildren: Christopher Leighton Merserve, Robert Scott Toney, Thomas Richard Toney, Camille Marie Webb and Briane Myles Crouse (Keith, Jr.); 2 great grandsons: Grady and Gannon Crouse; and many nieces and nephews. Kimberly Ann Jones, 58 years, of Perryville, MD, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018 at home. Born January 9, 1960 in Fort Lee, VA, she was the daughter of Nancy Thomas Barr of Perryville, MD, and the late Richard Barr.
Kim was retired from the V.A. Medical Center of Perry Point, MD, following 38 ½ years of service. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Susquehanna American Legion Post No. 135 of Perryville, MD, and a member of the Community Fire Company of Perryville, MD. Kim is survived by her husband, Michael Jones of Perryville, MD; son, Joseph Barr and his companion, Danielle Albanese, of North East, MD; daughters, Jeanie Jones and Heather Jones; and six grandchildren, Patrick Lindsey, Evan Lindsey, Leviaz Deer, Serenity Swift, Jakob Barr and Madison Swift. Brenda Lea Martin, 73, of West Grove, formerly of Oxford, passed away Monday, November 12, 2018 at Jennersville Hospital Tower Health, West Grove.
Born in Pocahontas, VA she was the daughter of the late Walter and Margaret Cartwright Martin. Brenda retired from Calvert Manor Healthcare Center, Rising Sun, MD, as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Rhonda Lynn Russell of North East died Sunday, November 4, 2018. She was 63. She was born April 10, 1955 in Wilmington, Del. Mrs. Russell loved yard sales, auctions and jewelry. She also enjoyed all kinds of music. But her greatest blessings were her grandsons; they were her world. She is survived by her husband, Richard Russell; children, Sara Muehlberger (Darren) of Lawrenceville, Ga. and Ronald F. Magliacane of Newark, Del.; two2 sisters, Denise Landis and Wendy Cunningham; and the lights of her life, her grandsons, Joseph, Bradley, Jacob, Caspian and Thomas. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 13, at 11 a.m. at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, with visitation beginning at 10. Burial will follow in Boulden’s Chapel Cemetery, Elkton. |
