Born in N.C., on December 1, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Crommie and Nellie (Martin) Rhodes. She retired from New Jersey Fireworks, Elkton, and also worked at the Day Basket Factory, North East.

Arthur Rolland ‘Dickie’ Briscoe, Sr. of North East died Wednesday, November 19, 2014. He was 63.
A lifelong resident of North East, he was born on February 17, 1951, the son of the late Chris Ann (Briscoe). Mr. Briscoe was a mason. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, barbeques, dogs and drag racing. Carolyn Diane Hickman of North East died Wednesday, November 12, 2014, in the Union Hospital of Cecil County, Elkton. She was 55.
She was born on June 28, 1959. All services were private. James Joseph Blythe of Rising Sun died at home Saturday, November 15, 2014. He was 69.
Born June 25, 1945 in Philadelphia, Pa., he was the son of the late George Francis and Bridget O’Brien Blythe. Clydine C. Sweeney of Elkton died Thursday, November 13, 2014 in the Union Hospital of Cecil County, Elkton. She was 73.
Born in Frederick, on November 2, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Columbus and the late Evelyn (Ward) Weddle. She retired as a Deputy 1st class from the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office, with 15 year’s service. She had previously worked at the University of Delaware overseeing dining services. Thomas Allen Ashley of Rising Sun died Saturday, November 15, 2014 at home. He was 63.
Born April 9, 1951 in Elkton, he was the son of the late Fred Elmer and Lucinda Shirley Blevins Ashley. Mr. Ashley was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 194 of Rising Sun, and a member of the Vietnam Veteran Association. The remains of Technical Sergeant Hugh Francis Moore, who was missing in action for more than 70 years after his plane was shot down in World War II, came home for burial with full military honors.
Born in Elkton, in 1908, son of the late Edward and Emma Louise Scarborough Moore, Tech. Sgt. Moore was 36 years old when his plane went down and he was killed in action. Tech. Sgt. Moore was a graduate of Kenmore High School and Goldey Business College in Wilmington, Del. He was employed at the Kenmore Paper Mill and by the Elkton Supply Company when he was inducted into the Army in July, 1942. Margaret M. Kennedy of Elkton died Tuesday, November 11, 2014, in the Abbey Manor Assisted Living, Elkton. She was 95.
Born in Sparta, N.C., on January 11, 1919, she was the last of the nine children born to the late Charles C. and the late Margaret L. (Garvey) McMillan. All of the children were born in Sparta, and then the family moved to Landenberg, Pa., in the 1930s. There, they established a dairy farm business, which they farmed for 30 years. Lisa Ann Jackson Molands, 52 of Bear, DE, formerly of North East, MD, died Tuesday, November 11, 2014 peacefully in her home after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis and the complications stemming from it. Born in Havre de Grace, MD, on August 15, 1962, she was the daughter of James ‘Pete’ and Janice (Stewart) Jackson, of Bear, DE. Lisa served her country in the U.S. Army as a PFC. Her career was cut short due to the onset of her illness. She enjoyed country music and dancing. James Paul Smith, Jr., of Rising Sun died Monday, November 10, 2014 at Union Hospital of Cecil County, Elkton. He was 58. Born October 25, 1956 in Havre de Grace, he was the son of the late James Paul and Georgia Ilene Slayman Smith. Mr. Smith was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and was employed by Terumo Cardiovascular Group of Elkton. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Tii Howard Smith; children, Stephanie Tii Carr, Lindsey Michelle Smith, Heather Renee Arsee; grandchildren, Kacie Lynn Carr, Keaten Taylor Featherstone, Maliah Renee Frazao, Natalie Grace Arsee, Emerson Cade Levi Arsee, Leroy Michael Trefethen, Kayleigh Michelle Smith, and Dustin Ross Brooks, Jr.; and brothers, Dale Henry Smith, Samuel Paul Smith (Kathleen), Homer James Smith. |
