Geraldine Payne Swift, 83 of Elkton, MD, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2018 in the Elkton Transitional Care Center, Elkton, MD.
Born in Mountain City, TN, on June 25, 1935, she was the daughter of the late William I. and Cora (Dyson) Payne. She was the wife of the late Milford Swift who passed away in 1977. Prior to retirement Geraldine worked as a hostess for Marriott Hotels. She enjoyed making flower arrangements, crafting, crocheting, collecting angels and dolphins. Most of all she loved her family and really enjoyed family gatherings. Anita Wehner, 91 of North East, MD, passed away on September 16, 2018. She was born February 22. 1927 in Dusseldorf, Germany, to the late Peter and Johanna Saueressig .
Anita graduated the Textile and Engineering School of Krefeld, Germany, majoring in fashion design and Illustration. Anita moved to Canada and then the United States, with her husband, the late George Wehner, in 1950. After raising three children, she went back to school at the Newark, NJ School of Fine & Industrial Arts, The Yard School of Art and the Montclair Museum School, both in Montclair, NJ. George W. Belew of Rising Sun died at home Friday, September 14, 2018. He was 64. Born in Wilmington, Del., on October 11, 1953, he was the son of the late Gordon L. and Kay F. (Haney) Belew. For many years he was a self-employed truck driver. Mr. Belew was a member of Charlestown Missionary Baptist Church, Charlestown. Survivors include his wife: Mary H. (Appenzeller) Belew; three daughters: Lisa Ford (John) of Elkton, Dawn Hamilton (Curtis) of Rising Sun, and Marcy Miller (John) of Elkton, and his son: John Seltzer (Natalie) of Gloucester, Va.; two brothers, John (Liz) of Md. and Junior of Del.; four sisters, Frances of Fla., Ann of Ga., Donna of Md. and Carolyn (Bob) of Del. He was also survived by eight grandchildren, Joseph, Cody (Jewelia), Courtney, Allison, Leah, Cordie, Anna and Hunter; and two great grandchildren, Dixie and Cody Jr. Raymond E Reynolds, 72 of North East, MD, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2018 in the Union Hospital Of Cecil County, Elkton, MD.
A lifelong resident of North East, he was born on February 22, 1946, the son of the late George and Viola (Biddle) Reynolds. He was a Concrete Finisher, working over the years for J & J, AFP and Ford Concrete Companies. He was a hard worker and good at it. Raymond enjoyed friends, dancing, Oldies music, baseball, food, riding in the car and enjoying the views. He kept things together and was fond of saying, “Do it right or not at all”. Most of all he loved his family, including his church family at Elkton Church of the Nazarene, especially Rev. Jim Moyers and his wife Penny. Phyllis Rutherford, 72 years, of Port Deposit, MD, passed away Friday, September 7, 2018 in the Christiana Hospital of Newark, DE, due to a sudden illness. She was the wife of Wolbert Lee Rutherford with whom she shared 56 years of marriage.
Born April 29, 1946 in Havre de Grace, MD, she was the daughter of the late Dallas R. and Lenora (Pugh) Cullum. Mrs. Rutherford was a homemaker who enjoyed boating, bowling, the beach, and playing shuffleboard with her husband. She cherished moments spent with her family. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Rutherford is survived by her three children, Randall T. Rutherford of Port Deposit, MD, Paula J. Hoak and husband, Michael, of Port Deposit, MD, James L. Rutherford of Havre de Grace, MD; three grandchildren, Paul J. Rutherford, Ashlee D. Rutherford, Joshua L. Hoak; two siblings, James T. Criss and wife, Leoda, of Jarrettsville, MD, and Mable Hendrick and husband, Wayne, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Lee Ann Pickowicz, 56 of Elkton, MD, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Seasons Hospice, Franklin Square, Baltimore, MD.
She was born in Cleveland, OH, on June 19, 1962. Lee Ann worked in food service at Outback Steakhouse. She enjoyed boating, arts and crafts. John Estle Vaughan, Jr. age 61 of Rising Sun, MD passed away on September 9, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 13, 1957 in West Grove, PA to Donna Rae (Strawbridge) Vaughan and the late John Estle Vaughan, Sr. John graduated from Rising Sun High School in 1975. He spent a lot of time with his friends at the American Legion Post 194 in Rising Sun. He had many hobbies including fishing and playing horse shoes and pool. John had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. He also had a soft spot for all animals. He loved his nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Luke Mitchell Jackson, 44 of North East, MD, passed away Friday, September 7, 2018. A lifelong resident of Cecil County, he was born in Elkton on May 3, 1974. Luke retired from Chrysler Automotive Manufacturing. A die hard Redskins fan, he enjoyed fishing and hunting with his Dad, Grandpaw and friends. Luke was a goofball who loved to party and make everyone laugh. The joys of his life were his 3 grandchildren and he loved spoiling them. Donald Michael Holmes of North East died Thursday September 6, 2018. He was 54. He was born February 12, 1964 in Havre de Grace to the late Mike Holmes and Betty (Wood) Page. He was a 36-year drywall veteran; a trade taught to him by his father. Mr. Holmes was a hardworking man who was always there to lend a hand. For the past 19 years, he was employed by Master Interiors of Newark, Delaware. Mr. Holmes enjoyed car cruises, car shows and tinkering with his 1970 AMC Javelin. He loved listening to rock music and talking about it with his brothers. He loved animals, especially dogs, and had a special place in his heart for his Yorkie Bella and his grand dog Pebbles. He took pride in his vast t-shirt collection, Clint Eastwood, and traveling backroads on long drives. Donald Harvey Cunningham, 72 years, of Port Deposit, MD, passed away Friday, September 7, 2018 at home. Born January 18, 1946 in Elkton, MD, he was the son of the late Donald, Sr., and Rose Perkins Cunningham.
Donald was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Vietnam War. He is retired from the V.A. Medical Center of Perry Point, MD, where he retired after 32 years of service as a firefighter. Donald was a member of the American Legion Post No. 194 of Rising Sun, MD, the Susquehanna American Legion Post No. 135 of Perryville, MD, the Jerry Skrivanek V.F.W. Post No. 8185 of Port Deposit, MD, where he served as Quarter Master. In addition Donald served as Past Maryland State Commander and Past District Commander. He served on the Port Deposit Council and was an assistant to the former Mayor Erma M. Keetley of Port Deposit, MD. For several years Donald was the head cook at the Citizens Care Center of Havre de Grace, MD. |
