Doris Jean Welsh, 83 of North East, MD, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016 in the Calvert Manor Healthcare Center, Rising Sun, MD.
George Cantwell Rhudy, 90, of North East, MD, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016, in the Calvert Manor Healthcare Center, Rising Sun, MD. A lifelong resident of North East, he was born on August 21, 1925, in Elkton Hospital. He was the son of the late James C. and Mary E. (Kinser) Rhudy. He was the husband of the late Lizzetta Logan Rhudy, who died on April 1, 2005. Mr. Rhudy served his country proudly during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps as an Air Cadet. Prior to his retirement, he was a block operator for the Pennsylvania Railroad and later a freight agent for Conrail. Community involvement was a priority to him. He was a member of North East United Methodist Church and was the longest serving member of the North East Fire Company. In addition, he was a member and past president of the North East Lions Club, volunteered along with his wife at Perry Point VA Medical Center and served as a magistrate in Cecil County. Robin Elaine Soots, 58 of Newark, DE, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at home.
Born in Elkton, MD, on December 12, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth “Sonny’” Hitchcock and Doris (Stewart) Lloyd of Elkton, MD. Robin worked in the call center for Bayshore Communications, Newark, DE for the past 12 years. Carol Ann White, 64 of Elkton, MD, died Saturday, August 13, 2016 in the Seasons Hospice in Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE. Born in Elkton on April 30, 1952, she was the daughter of Bill and Nan White who built and ran the Anchorage Store and Zoo in Elk Neck. A Professor of Art, Carol taught at Cecil College for the past 41 years. Verna Amelia McKinney, 85 of North East, MD, died Friday, August 12, 2016.
A lifelong resident of North East, MD, she was born on December 18, 1930, the daughter of the late Charles Daniel and Bertha (Heverin) Palmer. She was the wife of the late Edgar R. McKinney, Sr. who died on June 30, 1993. Mrs. McKinney is survived by one son: Edgar McKinney, Jr. of Elkton, MD; three sisters: Louise Fillippone, Teresa Heath and Selma Harvey; three brothers: Jack, Fred and Jerry Palmer; and three grandchildren. Kathryn S. Begley, 93, wife of the late John P. “Reds” Begley III, and daughter of the late Robert F. and Laura (Laudeman) Schenck, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2016.
Born on August 29, 1922 she was raised in Minersville, PA. She graduated from Millersville College in 1944. Kathryn was an elementary school teacher, retiring from the Wallingford Elementary School in 1983. An avid sports fan, Kathryn was involved with the Boy Scouts of America and Brownies. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, sewing, knitting, slot machines, the beach and her weekly bridge club. When surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, her smile and laughter lit up the room. Ashley Korin Ford, 25 of Perryville, MD, passed away on August 9, 2016. She was the daughter of Michael W. Ford and Bridgett Marden. Ashley was a 2008 graduate of North East High School. Along with her parents, she is also survived by brother: Michael Ford; sister: Rianna Ford; grandparents: Robert and Brenda Lankford; uncles: Thomas Neary and Douglas Neary; stepfather: Charles Marden; nephew: Michael Ford; and many cousins. Charles Melville Anderson, 77 yrs, of Conowingo, MD, died Monday, August 8, 2016 at his residence. Born December 21, 1938 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Joseph John and Catherine Elizabeth Eckert Anderson.
Charles was employed as a welder by Harford Systems of Havre de Grace, MD. Eleanor R. Eller, 85, of Oxford passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE. Born in Pilot Town, MD, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Orpha Lewis Farmer. She was the wife of the late Carl E. Eller. Eleanor was employed with Krapf’s para-transit bus for 14 years which granted her the opportunity to form relationships with people in the greater Oxford area. She enjoyed sewing, needlework, cooking, reading, gardening, and spending time with her family. Eleanor was deeply loved by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her smile lit up the room most when her children and grandchildren were all together. Jesse M. Foster, Jr. age 57 of Conowingo, MD, passed away after a long-term illness while surrounded by his loving family on August 5, 2016. He was born on November 7, 1958 in Elkton, MD to Jesse M. Foster, Sr. and the late, Vaudeline C. (Perdue) Foster. Jesse was the Pastor of Fellowship of Faith Church in Kirkwood, PA for ten years. He founded and facilitated The Exchange Youth Ministry of Oxford, PA and later a branch in Rising Sun, MD. Additionally, Jesse was the owner and operator of Tristate Petroleum Services. He was a fan of the Baltimore Ravens and Baltimore Orioles. Jesse was a hardworking man who cherished his family and his faith. |
