Marie Elizabeth Dunford, 74 of Aberdeen, MD, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017 in the Calvert Manor Healthcare Center, Rising Sun, MD.
Born in Havre de Grace, MD, on May 24, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Thomas W. and Irene (Porter) Perry. Edward C. Collins, age 77, of Bear, DE died July 9, 2017. He was born January 16, 1940 in (add city), North Carolina to the late Victor Arnold Collins and Alpha Mae Collins. Edward was an owner and operator of several restaurants throughout his career. His most recent was the Post House, located in Nottingham, PA. Edward was also a member of the Lions Club in Rising Sun. Sundee Elizabeth Nutter, 49 of North East, MD, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017 in Mercy Medical Center, Baltimore, MD. She was born in Baltimore, MD, on July 23, 1967. Sundee started her career as a Dispatcher with the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office and continued as a Police Communication Officer with the Department of Emergency Services. A member of the Christian Motorcycle Assoc. and Crossroads Bible Church, she enjoyed quilting, was an avid photographer and an awesome cook. Most of all Sundee loved her family, godchildren and all those she considered family, her friends, coworkers and emergency responders she guided daily. Survivors include her loving husband: Kevin R. Nutter; parents: William and Judy (Kidd) Dunbar, of Dublin, MD; one brother: Lee D. Dunbar and his wife, Stephanie of Bel Air, MD; a nephew: Mitchell Dunbar; two godchildren: Sarah Doyle and Patrick Neal; many other nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Banjo. Alverna E. “Tootsie” Olson, 89, of Elkton, MD, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 7, 2017, surrounded by her family.
Born in Gloucester City, NJ, on May 26, 1928, she was the daughter of the late William Mahlon and Alverna Ethel (Schade) Demarest. Alverna was a member of the First Baptist Church of North East, MD. She was a lifelong Sunday school teacher and volunteered consistently with various organizations and ministries throughout the area. She would say she was best known as "mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend." She was known for her kindness and compassion towards others. Joseph Edward Johnson, age 81, of Rising Sun, MD passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017. He was born in Rising Sun, MD on September 8, 1935 to the late Joseph and Ruth Johnson.
Being a lifetime member of the Community Fire Company of Rising Sun, MD, Edward lived and breathed for the fire company and could often be found driving both ambulances and fire trucks. He played softball for many years with multiple Fire Company and Church Leagues. Edward thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and loved watching his favorite baseball team – the Los Angeles Dodgers. Delray Rowe, 90, of North East, MD, formerly of Kirkwood, PA passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Laurelwood Healthcare Center, Elkton, MD.
Born in Little Horse Creek, NC she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Roten. She was the wife of the late Paul Rowe, Jr. and was preceded in death by her first husband, John Mayberry. Delray was a caregiver to several children. She enjoyed sewing clothes and quilting. Mary Sue Marshall, 59 years, of Elkton, MD, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017 in Union Hospital of Cecil County, Elkton, MD. Born May 12, 1958 in Elkton, MD, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd G. and Grace A. Hedrick Gifford.
Mrs. Marshall was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church of Rising Sun, MD. She is survived by her husband, Frederick L. Marshall; son, Alexander J. Dilks; daughter, Marcie L. Laurie Murphy Jewell, 93, of Elkton, MD, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017. Born in Sunfield Township, MI, on March 10, 1924, she was the daughter of the late James E. and Mary Agnes Willcut Murphy. Mrs. Jewell was a homemaker. She had previously worked at Elkton Fashions and Terumo Medical Corp., both in Elkton. She was a member and a former trustee at Baldwin Methodist Church. Mrs. Jewell loved gardening and enjoyed cooking for friends and family. Richard C. Cleveland, IV, age 70, of Elkton, MD, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017. Born in Baltimore, MD, on January 12, 1947, he was the son of the late Richard C., III and Marie Cleveland.
Mr. Cleveland was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and retired from Ametek Manufacturing, Newark, DE. He was proud of his service to his country as a Vietnam veteran, and an active member of Singerly Fire Company. |
