Wilmer E. Fraver, 89, of Cochranville, PA passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Twin Pines Health Care Center, Chatham.
He was the husband of Mary Jane McComsey. Born in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late Glenn and Pauline Gordon Fraver. Wilmer was a veteran of the US Army and served during WW II. He was employed with GM Boxwood Plant for 33 years. Wilmer was a member of Beulah Baptist Church. He was mechanical and could fix just about anything. Wilmer enjoyed working with his hands, walking and collected clocks. Patricia Ellen Murray, 83, died Wednesday, July 13, 2016. Born in Port Deposit, MD, she was the daughter of the late Jerome Patrick Murray and Mabelle Thompson Murray. In addition to her parents, Miss Murray was preceded in death by her sister, Mary M. Grafton. Miss Murray is survived by her sisters, Elizabeth E. Bolgiano and Ann C. Moore. She was the beloved aunt of 14 nieces and nephews and 27 great nieces and nephews. Miss Murray graduated from the former Jacob Tome Institute of Port Deposit, MD. She earned a teaching degree from The State Teacher’s College at Towson and a master’s degree in education from the University of Delaware. She taught second grade for 30 years at Bainbridge Elementary School. Frances J. McCoury, 89, of Nottingham, PA passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at her home. She was the wife of the late Raphall M. McCoury, Jr. Born in Port Deposit, MD, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Grace Campbell Elville. She was a member of Nottingham Missionary Baptist Church. Frances enjoyed watching wrestling, golf and baseball and loved her cat, Smokey. Robert Francis Bitler died on Saturday July 9, 2016.
He was the beloved husband of Rheda (nee Meekins) and the late Elva (nee Dollar); father of John (Maureen), Janet Davis, and Rich (Denise); stepfather of Patricia Norman (Wayne), Mary Jane Grant (Scot) and Dennis Meekins; grandfather of Stephanie Jaked (Alex), Suzanne Abbott (Jim), Matthew Bitler, Christopher Bitler and Justin Davis; step-grandfather of Christopher Norman (Delani), Susan Yashinskie (David), Jeffrey Norman, Erin Jordan (Chuck), Wendy Duvall, and Rachel Van Meter. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren. Robert proudly served in the 13th Army Air Force in the South Pacific during World War II as a Radar Control Officer with the rank of Captain. He was a graduate of Keystone College and Lehigh University. David Marvin Brackins of Rising Sun died Friday, July 8, 2016. He was 71.
Born May 22, 1945 in Bel Air, he was the son of the late Marvin Rowan Brackins and the late Opal Faye (Todd) Brackins. Mr. Brackins grew up in Harford County. Following his graduation he joined the United States Navy where he served his country proudly. Roslyn Byus of Elkton, died Thursday, July 7, 2016. She was 65.
Born in Baltimore on March 12, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Abraham and Pearl (Isaacson) Shaffer. Mrs. Byus was an administrative assistant for Cecil County Public Library. Jeffrey Alen Rhoades, 51 of Fair Hill, MD, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016 in the Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE.
A lifelong resident of Cecil County, he was born in Elkton on January 23, 1965. Jeff enjoyed fishing. Survivors include his wife: Linda Gail (Mitchem) Rhoades; two sons: Jeffrey Alen Rhoades, Jr. of Elkton, MD and Dylan Rhoades of Colora, MD; a daughter: Casey Farmer of Colora, MD; his parents: George Walter Rhoades, Sr. and Betty (Bullock) Rhoades of North East, MD; three brothers: George W. Rhoades Jr. and Richard Rhoades both of Elkton, MD and Frederick Rhoades of North East, MD. Wilbur Lindy Shires, 87 years, of Conowingo, died Wednesday, July 6, 2016 in Abbey Manor Assisted Living of Elkton, MD. Born April 8, 1929 in New Bridge, MD, he was the son of the late Holly Wellington and Frances Lydia Reynolds Shires.
Mr. Shires was affiliated with Janes United Methodist Church of Rising Sun. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and is retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground of Aberdeen, where he was employed in Personnel. He was a 32nd Degree Mason for over 50 years at Harmony Masonic Lodge No. 53 of Port Deposit. He also served as a deacon at Conowingo Baptist Church and was a past President of the Rising Sun Fire Company. John Lyndon Jones, age 52 of Frankford, DE formerly of Rising Sun, MD passed away on Monday, July 4, 2016 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE following a short but courageous battle with brain cancer. John was born in Jennersville, PA on June 20, 1964 son of Fred S. and Doris (Montgomery) Jones. He was a 1982 graduate of Rising Sun High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Arts from Salisbury State College in 1986. John was currently employed as a supervisor with Utiliquest. John was a former member of the Cecil County Hounds and Sportsman’s Club, former Vice President of the Cecil Soccer League and former member of the Lions Club in Rising Sun, MD. He was instrumental with the building of the two Cecil Soccer League complexes through his volunteer work where he was also a Little League coach, umpire and Cecil Soccer coach. Eugene James Clark, 75 yrs, of Elkton, MD, died Monday, July 4, 2016 at his residence. Born April 26, 1941 in Rising Sun, MD, he was the son of the late Melvin and Mary Boddy Clark.
Gene was retired from Stancills, Inc., of Perryville, MD, where for 22 years he was employed as an equipment operator. Prior to working at Stancills, Gene was a security guard at the Cecil County multi-purpose office building. Gene loved flying his remote control airplanes and the Swan Harbor RC Club. |
