Wanda Mae Ulmer of Elkton died Thursday, June 11, 2015. She was 69. Born on September 12, 1945, she was a life-long resident of the North East area. She was famous for making cakes. Mrs. Ulmer also enjoyed enjoyed playing poker with her buddies, bowling and Friday nights playing Bingo with friends. She retired from Social Services after 16 years of service in Elkton. Richard Eugene Robinson of North East died Wednesday, June 10, 2015. He was 80. Born in West Chester, Pa., on March 6, 1935, he was the son of the late J. Fred and Helen (Shoun) Robinson. Mr. Robinson was active in the FFA and graduated from Oxford High School. He worked tirelessly for many years as a dairy farmer in Oxford and later in North East. He transitioned to beef and crop farming some 25 years ago. He enjoyed driving his John Deere tractors. When he retired, he became a full time tinkerer and gardener. Michel Andre Carter of North East died at home Monday, June 8, 2015. He was 56.
Born in Havre de Grace, on July 6, 1958, he was the son of the late Bertha Delaplaine (McKinney) Carter. Mr. Carter treasured his childhood relationship with his beloved grandfather, the late Willard McKinney. Over the years, he worked for Cameron’s Texaco, Robbie’s Garage and Diamond Ice, among many other local businesses. Mary Jane Ray of North East died at home Saturday, June 6, 2015. She was 74.
Born in Havre de Grace on March 16, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and the late Ida (Wiggins) Divadio Hard. James Francis “Frank” Way, Sr. of Conowingo died Saturday, June 6, 2015 in Union Hospital of Cecil County, Elkton. He was 87.
Born April 2, 1928 in Rising Sun, he was the son of the late Clement Dare and Mary E. Williams Way. Mr. Way was raised by the late Norwood and Margaret Williams. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church of Colora, and an active leader with Troop 92 BSA. Hazel Marie Reid Campbell of Rising Sun died Thursday, June 4, 2015, in the Union Hospital, Elkton. She was 82.
Born in West Jefferson, N.C., on April 16, 1933, she was the daughter of the late John Greene Reid and the late Bertha (Gentry) Reid. She enjoyed crocheting, watching birds, her cats and flowers. Charles Francis Jones, Jr. of Conowingo died at home Wednesday, June 3, 2015. He was 73. Born December 15, 1941 in Wilmington, Del., he was the son of the late Charles F. Jones and Virginia McGlothlin Shinault. Mr. Jones was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was employed as a foreman by the former Chrysler Corporation of Newark, Del. He was an avid history buff, enjoyed traveling, spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; riding his motorcycle, driving his Challenger, gardening and keeping in touch with his Facebook friends around the world. Mary Lewis Logan Ross died June 3, 2015, in her daughter’s home. She was 84. Born in Havre de Grace, she was the daughter of the late Wilmer and Margaret Anne Gatschall Logan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert N. Ross. Mrs. Ross was a member of the Oxford Presbyterian Church. She was employed for 28 years with Acme Markets, Rising Sun, as a cashier and retired in 1993. Mrs. Ross enjoyed traveling, collecting antiques, and decorating her home. But, she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and celebrating their many milestones. Even with her Alzheimer’s diagnosis she always welcomed her family and friends with a warm smile. |
