Kasey Phipps of North East died Saturday, June 14, 2014. He was 17.
Born in Newark, Del., on December 2, 1996, he was the son of William F. and Sheila Doughten Phipps of North East. Kasey enjoyed being with friends, singing and playing the bass guitar. Allen Andrew "Peanut" Ferguson of Elkton died Thursday, June 12, 2014. He was 59.
Born in Elkton on January 13, 1955, he was the son of Ruth Jones Ferguson, Chesapeake City, and the late Allen E. Ferguson. A graduate of Bohemia Manor High School, Mr. Ferguson retired from Carpenters Union Local #626, Wilmington, Del. Diane L. Gray of Elkton died Saturday, June 14, 2014 in the Union Hospital of Cecil County, Elkton. She was 62. A lifelong resident of Cecil County, she was born in Elkton on April 19, 1952. Mrs. Gray worked as a wine buyer for State Line Liquors and Weaver’s Liquors, both in Elkton. She enjoyed gardening and boating. Most of all, she loved taking care of her family. She is survived by her husband, William Gray; her two sons, Chris Gray of Newark, Del. and Michael Gray of Elkton; her parents, Yvonne (Stevens) and Wilbur Blakely of Rising Sun; and her sister, Darlene Sadler of Perryville. Memorial services will be held Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 7 p.m. at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, where visitation will begin at 6 p.m. until service time. Judson Albert "Judd" Blevins of Port Deposit died June 8, 2014 at Union Hospital, Elkton. He was 95. He was born August 30, 1918 in Grassy Creek, N.C., son of the late Rush Fields Blevins and Dorsey Ann Jones Blevins. Named after his grandfather, Judson B. Jones, his family made the move from North Carolina on March 4, 1929, packing all their worldly goods and children on the back of a truck to Harford County, settling in the Glenville area. As a young man, he worked in farming and easily adapted to the hard work, a trait that stayed with him throughout his life. He was always a hard charger with energy to spare. Mr. Blevins learned the electrical trade and worked as an electrician 39 years for Charlestown Electric before retiring. Rose Beatrice Letts of Elkton died Thursday, June 5, 2014 in the Singerly Manor Assisted Living, Elkton. She was 92.
Born in Raysal, W.Va., on July 12, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Andy and Lilly Margaret (Hagerman) Cole. She was a homemaker who enjoyed fishing and gardening. Mildred J. “Jackie” Rowles of Milton, Del., died at home Friday, June 6, 2014. She was 82. Born in Loudon County, Va. on July 13, 1931, she was the daughter of the late William Marshall and Mildred (Hoge) Rawlings. Mrs. Rowles was an Executive Secretary at the University of Delaware for 31 years before retiring. She also enjoyed reading. She is survived by her husband, James Rowles, Milton, Del.; son: David Allison, Elkton; two daughters: Susan DiSabatino of Fallston and Marian Roberts of Chatham, Va.; and a sister, Merrie Creasy of Westminster. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, where family and friends may call from 1-2 p.m. Harold Neffy/PeeWee A. Neff, 86, of Nottingham, PA passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at his home. He was the husband of the late Mabel Dean Neff. Born in Lancaster County, he was the son of the late Charles and Florence Kunkle Neff. Harold was a veteran of the US Army and served in the Korean War. He retired from Price Brothers, Aberdeen, MD as a pipe maker. Harold was a member of the American Legion Mason-Dixon Post #194, Rising Sun, MD. Ruth L. Clark, of Elkton, died on Sunday, June 1, 2014. She was 87.
A service for Ruth will be held at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 E. Main Street in Elkton on Sunday, June 8 at 2 p.m. with a visitation starting at 1 p.m. Eugene J. Boyd died Tuesday, June 3, 2014. He was 91. Born in Perryville on April 29, 1923, he was the son of the late Walter and Lily Benjamin Boyd. A 1941 graduate and senior class president of Jacob Tome School, he was an Eagle and Sea Scout, and enjoyed a lifelong participation in scouting, including being the first den chief in Cecil County and serving as a committee chairman and merit badge counselor in Perryville scout troops for many years. A baseball enthusiast, he followed the Orioles from their inception, was one of the founders of Perryville Little League, serving as president and other offices for over 20 years. Harold Andrew (Andy) Jackson, 100, of Peach Bottom, PA entered into rest June 2, 2014. He was the husband of Eva Weaver Jackson. They were married in 1934 in Little Britain Presbyterian Church. They celebrated their 80th wedding anniversary March 21, 2014. Andy was the son of the late Leiper G. and Ila Bradley Jackson. He was baptized in Little Britain Presbyterian Church where he has been a life time member. Mr. Jackson attended Little Britain schools and was a graduate of Quarryville High School. He was a dairyman and crop farmer for most of his life. |
