James Arthur Reeves, Sr., of Rising Sun, died on Saturday, June 15, 2013. He was 67. Mr. Reeves was born on November 20, 1945, son of the late James Herbert and Ethel Irene Sharon Reeves.
He is survived by his son, Pastor James A. Reeves, Jr., of Rising Sun and his daughter, Tracy Lynn Norris, of Rising Sun; six grandchildren; brothers, Mark Tracy Reeves, Gilbert Laverne Reeves, both of Maryland; sisters, Martha Jean Conner, Robin Ellen DeSmith, Donna Kay Cebula, all of Maryland and Della Mae Copper, of Florida. Paul Robert Spotswood, of Marysville, near North East, died Tuesday, June 18, 2013. He was 71. Mr. Spotswood was a lifelong resident of Cecil County, born on May 19, 1942, son of the late Thomas J. and the late Ruth Ann Boulden Spotswood. He served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army.
Kami Dean Ring of Charlestown died Monday, June 10, 2013. She was 10. She was born on February 18, 2003 in Newark, Del.
A student at Charlestown Elementary School, Kami had just completed the fourth grade with Perfect Attendance and on the Honor Roll. She was awarded the John Hopkins Award for Academics. Kami loved attending the Boys and Girls Club, Charlestown. Helen Elizabeth Fitzgerald Graybeal of Conowingo died June 9, 2013 at Calvert Manor Healthcare Center. She was 85. A lifelong resident of Cecil County, Helen was born in Colora on August 24, 1927, the daughter of the late Sam and Mary Fitzgerald. For most of her life, she was a homemaker, raising four children. Later, she and her family established their business, Susquehanna Campgrounds and was active in the business until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of West Nottingham Presbyterian Church. Horace William Murray, of Bay View, died on Thursday, June 13, 2013. He was 81. Mr. Murray was a lifelong resident of Cecil County, he was born in Union Hospital on May 27, 1932, son of the late William Jeffers Murray and the late Mary Sands Murray Gorman. He worked in Bay View picking apples and cutting lawns for much of his younger years.
Kathleen A. Wells of Newark, Delaware, died at home Wednesday, June 12. She was 55. She was born April 14, 1958 to James and Clara Welch of Long Island, New York. She married Dale Wells on April 15, 1978, and they settled in Rising Sun, where they attended Pleasant View Baptist Church and raised their two sons, Christopher and Jesse.
Hazel Ewing Jenkins of Colora died Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at Harford Memorial Hospital. She was 90. She was born October 25, 1922, in Colora, to the late Samuel and Lillian (Garrett) Ewing. Mrs. Jenkins graduated from Colora Public School in 1935, Rising Sun High School in 1939, and attended Goldey Business College from 1940 to 1941.
Carrie Belle “Kate” Hodge of Elkton died at home June 11, 2013. She was 75. She was born in Woodbine, Pennsylvania on November 29, 1937 to the late Harley and Delores Stanley. A graduate of Kennard-Dale High School in Fawn Grove, Pa., Mrs. Hodge was a devoted wife and homemaker.
John William "Jack" Myers, Sr. of Chesapeake City died Sunday, June 9, 2013. He was 84. Born in Christiana, PA, on May 31, 1929, he was the son of the late Robert R. and Bessie Love Myers. Mr. Myers was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He had been a truck driver for 60 years. Along with his wife, Helen, they owned and operated Jack and Helen's Restaurant for 46 years.
Helen A. Myers, of Chesapeake City, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2013. She was 81. Mrs. Myers was born in Calvert, on June 12, 1932, daughter of the late Hubert S. and Lydia Keen Miller. Mrs. Myers and her late husband, John, owned and operated Jack and Helen's Restaurant for 46 years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Chesapeake City, and loved to cook.
