William C. "Bill" McComsey of Rising Sun died at home on Wednesday, May 7, 2014. He was 75.
Mr. McComsey was born in Coatesville, Pa., a son of the late Harold and Mildred Mary Rissinger McComsey. He lived in Quarryville before moving to Rising Sun. He worked at the Acme Market, Parkesburg, Pa., for 40 years before retiring. Jean Blevins Cowan of North East died at home May 10, 2014. She was 85.
Born in Nathan’s Creek, N.C., on July 16, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Mary Blevins. She was a woman dedicated to her family and enjoyed crafts and gardening. Vernon D. Dalgarn, of Elkton, died on Friday, May 9, 2014. He was 87.
Mr. Dalgarn was born in Camden, NJ, on April 9, 1927, son of the late Vernon M. and Frances Carey Dalgarn. Claud Ray Campbell, of Eustis, FL, formerly of New London, PA, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014 in Orlando, FL. He was 82.
He was the husband of the late Betty Mae Smith Campbell. Mr. Campbell was born in Mt. City, TN, son of the late Anderson Campbell and Zelda Price Campbell Walsh. Carol Ann Copenhaver of Perryville died at home Thursday, May 8, 2014 at home. She was 70.
She was born in Bluefield, W. Va., on January 12, 1944, daughter of the late Perry O. and the late Ethel (Morris) Grose. She was a homemaker. Constance L. "Dolly" Gibson of North East died at home Thursday, May 8, 2014. She was 93. She was born in Wilmington, Del., on May 4, 1921, daughter of the late Sam and Sarah (Cartelli) Lanteri. Mrs. Gibson was a sales clerk at Cramers 5 & 10 and Armour’s Market. During World War II, she worked at the Triumph (Navy Side) in Elkton. She was a part of many organizations. She was a charter member of the Lady Lions in North East, and was the past president of the Chief Petty Officers Wives Club in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Ham Jefferson Thomas, of Elkton died Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at his residence. He was 86.
Born July 31, 1927 in Woolwine, Va., he was the son of the late Callie H. and Cora Cockran Thomas. Mr. Thomas was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was formerly employed as a welder at the Limerick Nuclear Plant in Pennsylvania. Edna M. “Peg” Holton, 91, of Oxford, Pa., died at home Sunday, May 4, 2014. She was 91. Born in West Grove, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John P and Ida DeSilva Holton. She retired from Bell Telephone as an operator and was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America. During World War II she worked at Bainbridge Naval Training Center in the ammunition division. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oxford. Anthony Wayne "Tony", "T-Bone" Bobbitt of Colora died at home Wednesday, April 30, 2014. He was 41.
Born April 14, 1973 in Lancaster, Pa., he was the son of Cerena Darlene Bobbitt Zellman of Darlington. Mr. Bobbitt enjoyed hunting, fishing, music, gardening, and his dogs, Bliss and Lucky. Mary Eleanor Miller of North East died Monday, May 5, 2014 at Christiana Hospital, Newark, Del. She was 93. Born in Curwensville, Pa., on February 26, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Mathew and the late Esther (Williams) Haag. Mrs. Miller is survived by her children, son, Boyd G. Miller, Jr. of North East, and daughter, Pam A. Lister of Raleigh, N.C.; two grandsons, Chad Allen Lister and Boyd G. Miller, III; and her sister, Lenore Hoch. |
