Bryan Keith Langley, Sr. of North East died Tuesday, April 17, 2018, in the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore. He was 49.
He was born in Elkton on July 16, 1968. Mr. Langley worked as a concrete finisher. He enjoyed fishing, canoeing and was an avid sports fan. Ruth Ann Wiggins, 59 of Charlestown, MD, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Seasons Hospice, Sinai Hospital, Baltimore, MD. Born in Elkton, MD, on July 8, 1958, she was the daughter of the late John and Jean (Howell) Bullock. Mrs. Wiggins loved spending time with and taking care of her family. She enjoyed her 7 dogs. She is survived by her husband: Jeffrey Wiggins; son: Josh D. Wiggins and his fiancé’ Shelby of Elkton, MD; daughter: Mindy M. Young and husband Eric of Rising Sun, MD; 2 sisters: Becky MacDonald of Elkton, MD, Rosie LaSalle of New Castle, DE; 3 brothers: Jimmy Bullock of North East, MD, John Thomas Bullock of Rising Sun, MD, Ralph Bullock of Naples, FL; and her grandsons: Aiden and Jaxsen. Carl David Winkler, 71 years, of Colora, MD, formerly of Bel Air, MD, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018. Born December 5, 1948 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Carl and Dorothy Kerns Winkler. Carl was retired from the Harford County Public Schools and worked at Cecil College of North East, MD. He had a passion for trains, especially model trains, and loved camping and fishing, but was happiest when spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Carl is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Barbara Muir Winkler of Colora, MD; daughters, Elizabeth Gullion and husband, Brian, Heather Van Bergen and husband, Bernie, Kelly Pauley and husband, Scott; grandchildren, Christian, Ari, Ethan, Nicholas and Zachary; and brother, G. Scott Winkler. Willard Edward Barr, 90 years, of Perryville, MD, passed away Friday, April 13, 2018 at home. Born September 29, 1927 in Blythedale, MD, he was the son of the late Robert Edward and Anna Rebecca Smith Barr.
Willard was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during W.W. II. He was employed as a Vehicle Test Driver by the Aberdeen Proving Ground of Aberdeen, MD, and was a lifelong resident of Cecil County. A devoted family man, he is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Dean Barr of Perryville, MD; son, Robert Edward Barr; daughters, Susan Marie Fradel and Alice Ann Whitmill; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Nancy Ann McLaughlin, 69 years, of Port Deposit, MD, passed away at Sinai Hospital on Thursday, April 12, 2018; ending a prolonged struggle. Nancy was the daughter of Merle Dunlap McLaughlin of Port Deposit, MD, and the late Oliver McLaughlin.
Nancy was employed by the V.A. Maryland Health Care System of Perry Point, MD, for more than 50 years. She loved helping the veterans; working tirelessly to enhance their lives by organizing special events including the annual carnival and car shows. Nancy enjoyed antiques and spoiling her granddaughters at any opportunity. Leonard Irwin Hamilton, 77 of Elkton, MD, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018 in the Calvert Manor Healthcare Center, Rising Sun, MD. Born in North East, MD on July 21, 1940, he was the son of the late Carrie E. (Hamilton) Smith and the step-son of the late Lorris L. Smith. Mr. Hamilton was raised by his grandparents, the late Harry R. and the late Carrie R. Hamilton. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a School Bus Driver for Dale Brown and a Truck Driver for Maryland Portable Concrete. Leonard was a lifetime member of the North East Fire Dept. where he served on the Board of Directors, as Chief Engineer and worked numerous functions, including the annual carnival. He was inducted into the Harford-Cecil Hall of Fame and received two Governor's Awards from the MD Fireman's Association for his 50 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and playing the harmonica. H. Vernon Baker, Sr., 84 of Rising Sun, MD, passed away Monday, April 9, 2018 at Laurelwood Care Center, where he was lovingly cared for and watched over by his wife, Toni Baker. Vernon was born in Newark, DE, on October 4, 1933. He was employed in DE and PA as a Terminal Manager and in Shipping and Receiving. He enjoyed playing guitar and banjo, singing with country western bands, woodworking, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Newark Anglers Association and the Civil Air Patrol and was a pilot. He moved to VA in 2006 and was a volunteer with the Fire Dept. in Wachapreague for a time. He moved to Hagerstown in 2015 and to Cecil County in 2018. Vernon was predeceased by his parents: Harry Baker (Helen) and Rita (Crist) Baker Laws (Fred); his sister: Rita Jean (Laws) Harris; brother: James Laws; and his granddaughter: Dawn (Robitaille) Riley. John Paul Spindler, 75 years, of Elkton, MD, passed away Friday, April 7, 2018 in the Fair Hill Assisted Living facility of Elkton, MD. Born January 4, 1943 in Omaha, NE, he was the son of the late Benjamin L. and Mary Francis Gibbs Spindler.
Mr. Spindler was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served from 1960 until 1979. He was employed by the Navy as an Electronic Technician until his retirement. He is survived by his step-sons, Ronald D. Estep and wife, Lorraine, of North East, MD, Dennis R. Younce and wife, Linda, of Marydel, MD, Jerry Younce and wife, Mary, of Belcher, LA, Caleb Murdoch of Elkton, MD; step-daughters, Glinda E. Elliott and husband, David, of Perryville, MD, Sharon S. Martinez and husband, Lloyd, of Port Deposit, MD; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchild; brothers, James E. Spindler of Eugene, OR, Roger E. Spindler of Fresno, CA, Benjamin Spindler of Sacramento, CA; sisters, Mary Lynn Spindler of Walla Walla, WA, and Francis A. Spindler. Arthur S. Caslow, Jr., 66 years, of Perryville, MD, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 6, 2018. Born February 14, 1952 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of Eileen Bracken Caslow and the late Arthur S. Caslow.
Art was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served from 1970 until 1976. He attended the Good Shepherd Catholic Church of Perryville, MD. Art is survived by his mother, Eileen B. Caslow (96) of Baltimore, MD; sisters, Diane Unruh of Princeton, NJ, Bonnie Allan of Garrison, MD, Lacey Caslow of Woodside, CA; brothers, Douglass Caslow of Alexandria, VA, Jeffrey Caslow of Timonium, MD, Rodney Caslow of Baltimore, MD; and Bruce Caslow of Fairfax, VA. Robert S. Slauch, 87, of Oxford, PA formerly of Huntington Valley, PA passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018 in Jennersville Regional Hospital, West Grove, PA. Born in West Grove, he was the son of the late S. Spencer and Margaret Sims Slauch. Robert graduated from Oxford High School in 1948 and Temple University in 1956 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration. He was employed with Lower Moreland School District as the Superintendent of Business and later as the Treasurer and Tax Collector of Lower Moreland Township, Montgomery County. Robert was Past President of the Rotary Club #7707 of Huntingdon Valley-Southampton. He was a member and Past Superintendent of Sunday School of Oxford United Methodist Church. Robert enjoyed tours, conventions and riding trains. |
