George Allen Scarborough of Elkton died Friday, March 13, 2015, while in Calvert Manor Healthcare Center. He was 90. George was born on January 22, 1925, son of the late Clarence and Elsie (Cameron) Scarborough. He was one of 8 children – Samuel, Andrew, Milton, Robert, David, Eva and Mary Grace. Mr. Scarborough grew up in Cecil County and after 33 years of dedicated service, retired from the Perry Point V.A. Medical Center as a water treatment plant operator. He spent his retirement years enjoying crabbing, fishing, playing cards, drinking coffee with his “buddies”, growing tomatoes, watching NASCAR (especially his favorite driver Jimmie Johnson) and spending time with his beloved family. Ernestine Jones of North East died at home Wednesday, February 4, 2015. She was 52.
She was born in Baltimore on September 17, 1962. She was a resident of Chesapeake Care Resources (CCR) for over 25 years. Betty A. Temple of Elkton died at home Sunday, March 8, 2015. She was 87.
Born October 21, 1927 in Loudon County, Va., she was the daughter of the late George B. and Samantha (Mercer) Underwood. Mrs. Temple was an active member of Rock Presbyterian Church where she was a trustee, elder, choir member, Sunday school teacher, as well as an elected delegate to the Presbytery General Assembly. JoEllen “Jody” Kretchmer of Port Deposit died at home Saturday, March 7, 2015. She was 58. Born June 5, 1956 in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of Frank John, Jr. and Bettie Lorraine Kemp Onorato. She was VP of Office Administration for Stifel of Baltimore. She is survived by her fiance, Howard “Bud” Biddle; son, Christopher Robert Dreisch and wife, Lisa; daughter, Kaitlyn Erin Kretchmer; two grandchildren, Julianna and Liam; brothers, Frank Onorato III and wife, Carol, and Steven Onorato and wife, Sandra; sisters, Joyce Rethemeyer and husband, Vince, Mary Callanan and husband, Mike, Elaine George and husband, DJ. Jerrald Kincaid Simmers of Rising Sun died March 5, 2015. He was 64. Mr. Simmers was a lifelong resident of the Rising Sun area and had many dear friends that he cherished as family members. He didn’t let his relationships drift, but made an effort to stay in touch often with his friends and relatives. He worked for the State of Maryland for more than 35 years and developed many close relationships through his work and has kept up with those friends during his retirement. He enjoyed his retirement and stayed busy maintaining his property in an environmentally sensitive manner to help make this planet a better place. Lloyd Everett Schirling of Elkton died at home Friday, February 27, 2015. He was 70. Born in Elkton on September 12, 1944, he was the son of the late John and the late Helen (Everett) Schirling. Mr. Schirling served his country in the U.S. Navy. Prior to his retirement, he worked as an Audio Visual Tech for San Jose School System, Cal. Talia Ewing was born and died on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 in the Franklin Square Medical Center, Rosedale.
MaryAnn Loomis of Elkton died Wednesday, February 25, 2015. She was 76. She was born on October 14, 1938 Wilmington, Del., to the late Charles Bradford Dennie and Edith Anabell Dennie. Mrs. Loomis grew up in Rockford Park, Delaware. After graduating from Wilmington High School she worked as a secretary for the DuPont Company. Then for many years she owned and operated “MaryAnn’s Nut Farm” with locations in Newark and Rehoboth Beach, Del. She also worked with her husband in his business, Loomis Appraisal Company. Earl Herbert Loomis of Elkton died Wednesday, February 25, 2015. He was 79. He was born on November 22, 1935 in Chester County, Pa. to the late Earl Russell Loomis and Gladys McCorkle. Mr. Loomis was a graduate of Downingtown High School in Downingtown, Pa. then attended Goldey–Beacom College in Del. graduating with an associate’s degree in Accounting and Business. He worked at First Federal Savings Fund in Wilmington Del., where he served as Vice-President for 19 years. In 1982, he started Loomis Appraisal Company where he worked as a Real Estate Appraiser and he also taught appraising through Loomis Appraisal School. Patricia A. Mitchell of West Chester, Pa., died Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, Philadelphia, Pa. She was 68. Born in Havre de Grace, she was the daughter of the late James and Allene Bennet Dishmon. Mrs. Mitchell was employed with Acme Market and Shop Rite. She enjoyed spending time with her grandson. |
