Joseph Richard Dugan, Sr. of Rising Sun died at home March 12, 2014. He was 63. He was born on December 27, 1950 in Rising Sun, son of Betty Monger Dugan and the late Kenneth Dugan. Mr. Dugan grew up in Rising Sun where he excelled in baseball and was known as a longball hitter. He graduated from Salesianum Catholic High School in Wilmington, Del. in 1967. Mr. Dugan began his career as a journeyman electrician for Henkels & McCoy. He retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground after 33 years of service. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Dorothy Elizabeth Preston, of Smyrna, S.C., formerly of North East, died Wednesday, February 12, 2014. She was 92.
Born in Dover, Del., on October 2, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Nolan and Mary Hutchins. Linda Darlene Janes of North East died Friday, March 7, 2014 in the Riverview Rehabilitation and Health Center, Baltimore. She was 65.
Born in North East on January 31, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Clifford Preston and the late Rose Janes. Kimberly Faye (Smythe) Hunt of Elkton died Sunday, March 9, 2014 in the University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore. She was 54.
A lifelong resident of Cecil County, she was born in Elkton, on November 13, 1959. Mary S. Boddy of Elkton died at home Monday, March 10, 2014. She was 62. A lifelong resident of Elkton, she was born on April 17, 1951, the daughter of the late Howard and the late Juanita (Hysell) Simpson. Mrs. Boddy was a hostess at the Waffle House in Elkton. She enjoyed all types of animals and gardening. Most of all she loved her family and the time they all spent together. Daniel Moncilovich of Conowingo died Friday, March 7, 2014 in the Conowingo Veterans Center. He was 74.

Private burial will be in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray, Pa. William Robert Green, Jr. of North East died at home Wednesday, March 5, 2014. He was 61. Born in Salem, N.J., on January 29, 1953, he was the son of the late William Robert Green, Sr. and the late Elsie (Featherer) Green. He was a Steamfitter for Local 486. Mr. Green was a member of the Moose Lodge, Elkton. He enjoyed watching the Ravens and the Orioles. James Samuel Johnson, of Port Deposit, died Sunday, March 2, 2014, in the V.A. Maryland Health Care System of Perry Point. He was 81. Mr. Johnson was born on February 1, 1933 in Marion, North Carolina, son of the late Harry E. and Lola Coe Johnson. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Port Deposit and a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during the Korean Conflict. Edward Francis Gillespie, of Elkton, died at Citizens Nursing Center in Havre de Grace, on Sunday, March 2, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was 79. Mr. Gillespie was born in Upland, Pennsylvania on March 27, 1934, son of the late Edward F. Gillespie, Sr., and the late Isabelle Schoenfelt Sorgini. He served in the U.S. Army and was in the Honor Guard for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Mr. Gillespie was a member of St. Rose of Lima RC Church of Chesapeake City. Frederick E. Janney of Elkton died at home Monday, March 3, 2014. He was 55.
Born in Elkton on June 30, 1958, he was the son of the late Walter Roscoe and the late Vinnie Pearl (Coalson) Janney. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator, for Eastern States Construction for 37 years. |
