Virginia Marie Anderson, 56, of Conowingo, entered the gates of Heaven and received perfect healing on Monday, February 16, 2015. Virginia, known to many as Ginny, was born on March 5, 1958 in West Grove, PA to the late James Madison and Verna Marie Miller. Virginia greatly enjoyed serving others with loving kindness and hospitality. She worked as a Teacher’s Assistant for nearly 25 years at Calvary Christian Academy. Virginia was an active member of Calvary Independent Baptist Church, where she was involved in various ministries of the church. At home, she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, and working with flowers. Virginia also enjoyed traveling with her family and friends. Edith P. Kilby, 97, of Elkton died Tuesday, February 17, 2015. She was 97. Born October 15, 1917 in Helton, N.C., the third of eight children of the late Charles Bradley Pennington and Frances Emily (Littlewood) Pennington. She moved with her family to Harford County in 1920 and graduated from Bel Air High School and then Towson Teachers College with a degree in elementary education. In 1939, after one year of teaching in a one-room school, she married John H. Kilby, Sr. and shared the life of a dairy farmer for the next 61 years until his death in 2000. After living several years on a farm near Oxford, Pa., where her two oldest sons were born, she and John moved back to Harford County where four more children were born. Judy Sumpter Wilson of North East died at home Sunday, February 15, 2015. She was 65. She was born in Havre de Grace on June 16, 1949. Mrs. Wilson worked in the State of Maryland Comptroller’s office. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 135, Perryville. She is survived by her husband, Scott Wilson; two sons: Paul S. Wilson, Jr. and William Michael Wilson all of North East; her father, Ralph Sumpter of Perryville; two grandchildren, Ashlynn S. Wilson and Trenton M. Wilson both of North East; four brothers, William L. Sumpter (Paula), Gary Sumpter and Joseph Sumpter (April) all of Perryville; and Phillip Sumpter (Toni) of Kennett Square, Pa.; three nephews and one niece. Ross B. Cameron, Jr. f Hances Point, North East, died Saturday, February 14, 2015, in the Bel Air Assisted Living, Bel Air. He was 73. Born in Asbury Park, N.J. on March 26, 1941, he was the son of the late Ross B. Cameron Sr. and Phyllis (Reid) Cameron of Hances Point. He spent most of his professional career as President of Charms Candy Company, Covington, Tennessee, working alongside his brother, Reid; his Uncle Walter Reid III; and his cousin William Reid. Collectively they helped develop the business into one of the largest privately held confectionary companies in the United States. Janet Ferguson Fanning of Elkton died Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Ware Presbyterian Village, Oxford, Pa. She was 80. A lifelong resident of Cecil County, she was born in North East on January 8, 1935, the daughter of the late Andrew Benjamin and Mabel Virginia (Bryan) Ferguson. She was a manager, employed by Stewarts Restaurant, North East, for 26 years and managed several local physicians’ offices. She was also employed at Union Hospital. Mrs. Fanning was a member of North East United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She was an avid reader, loved crocheting and traveling with her husband. Arthur Ellsworth Baker of North East died Monday, February 9, 2015, in the Perry Point VA Medical Center. He was 99.
Born in Perryville on October 14, 1915, he was the son of the late Arthur E. and the late Edith (Smith) Baker. He was a graduate of the Tome School and served his country in the U.S. Army Artillery during World War II. Rose Mary Marchese of Elkton died Monday, February 9, 2015 in Union Hospital, Elkton. She was 81.
Born in Landenberg, Pa., on September 17, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Charles Joseph and the late Margaret Theresa (Kelley) Destafney. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Marchese worked as a nurse. Warren W. “Woody” Wilson of Perryville died at home Tuesday, February 3, 2015. He was 67.
He was born in Upland, Pa., on February 23, 1947. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Wilson was a Highway Patrolman of the Oklahoma State Police. Fredderrick Garry Jackson, Sr. died Sunday, February 1, 2015. A 1970 graduate of Elkton High School, he entered the construction field and later entered college at Delaware Technical Community College and became a licensed journeyman machinist. Mr. Jackson was a longtime member of Griffith AUMP Church, which he served in many capacities. He loved coaching and coached for the Cherry Hill Cougars for more than 10 years. He also enjoyed farming, riding horses and was an avid Eagles fan. Larry Joe Elswick of Newark, Del., died Friday, January 30, 2015 in the Christiana Hospital, Newark, Del. He was 62.
Born in Fayette, W.Va., on April 5, 1952, he was the son of the late Burley Elswick and Dorothy Janice (Bostic) Whiteside of Ohio. He served during Vietnam war in the Army from 1970-1973 and worked as a maintenance technician for Capano, Newark, Del. Mr. Elswick loved crabbing and watching NASCAR. |
